Interior Design Laguna Niguel

Client: Jim & Karen Lyons

Project: Home Remodel

Location: Laguna Niguel, CA

Jim and Karen Lyons made the decision to invest in a complete remodel of their 2,000 square foot home in Laguna Niguel. They felt it was time to create their “dream home” where they plan to retire.

The design blueprint incorporated Mediterranean, Italian, and Euro style influences implemented with a classic orientation. The color palette complemented the design using timeless colors that were both neutralizing and bold in nature.

Redesign the following rooms of the house:

  • Kitchen
  • Master bedroom/bathroom suite
  • Family room
  • Dining room
  • Office
  • 2 Guest bathrooms
  • Guest bedroom

Apply foundational changes such as:

  • Staircase restructure
  • New doors throughout
  • Crown molding
  • Baseboards
  • Door casings

In addition, ceilings were changed from a textured to smooth finish. New flooring materials were installed that included wood flooring in the general living area, stone in the bathrooms and carpet in the bedrooms. A new task and ambient lighting schematic was implemented throughout. The dècor design plan encompassed new furniture collections for all rooms. Custom built-ins were designed for the family room that integrated the fireplace, custom built-ins for the office, and custom cabinetry in the master bath. New custom cabinetry was also part of the total makeover in the kitchen which included granite countertops of 2 types, Bordeaux for the perimeter countertops and black galaxy for the eating/bar area. The backsplash design incorporated the Bordeaux granite with a glass mosaic liner throughout. New high-end stainless appliances created a kitchen outfitted for a chef.

The project plan included a timeframe of five months from start to finish. The challenge was how to phase the improvements to minimize the disruption since the homeowners lived in their home during the renovation.

For the most part, we did not perform any major demolition until all new design appointments were ready for installation. Through this approach, we were able to keep the key areas like the kitchen and master bedroom/bath untouched and livable with minimal downtime. Any renovation can be a daunting experience but I found Jim and Karen to be the model clients. They agreed at the beginning of the project the challenges they would face and committed to supporting the effort. They sailed through with flying colors.

We all agreed that the result of the redesign was a tremendous success. As you will see from the before and after pictures, the transformation speaks for itself. The photos tell the story that anything is possible with the right vision and a great execution plan. CAZ Designs strives for perfection and consistently delivers unique designs that reflect the individual style of each client.
